Logging Out

Always logout!

Always logout. This means telling the operating system you wish to log out, then waiting for a few seconds until it carries out your request and informs you that it has done so. Simple instructions for doing so are below. YOUR ACCOUNT IS NOT SECURE UNLESS YOU END YOUR SESSION BY LOGGING OUT.

Don't end your session by walking away from your computer while you are still logged in. The next person to use the computer will have full access to your account and could, intentionally or accidentally, destroy your files or do other things that could harm you.

How to logout

  1. Go to the start menu (the "Start" button), then choose "Log Off".
  2. Press the CTRL-ALT-DEL keys simultaneously, and select "Logout" from the dialogue box that appears.  In our labs, for security reasons, this also causes the computer to restart.
